Mercedes launch diesel scrappage scheme to offer drivers cash off a new car
Mercedes has launched a diesel scrappage scheme in the UK offering motorists a chance to cash in on their old car.

UK car drivers can receive a cash incentive of up to £2,000 off a new Euro 6 diesel, pure electric or plug-in hybrid Mercedes when they trade in their old car.

This follows announcements from other car manufacturers introducing similar schemes to encourage drivers to switch to low-emissions cars.

Cars that are eligible for this offer are any diesel vehicles made between 1992 and 2010 or Euro 1 to Euro 4.

One caveat is that you must have owned the car for more than six months to be able to qualify for this deal/.

BMW and VW both introduced schemes a few weeks ago very similar to the one announced by Mercedes.

Mercedes’ scrappage scheme will run until the 31st December 2017 and drivers must register their new car between August 2017 and March 2018.

Customers can alternatively opt for £1,000 off a Smart Electric Drive car, a subsidiary of Mercedes, if they cannot afford a Merc.
Motorists in the UK can benefit from a government grant when they buy an electric or hybrid vehicles – up to £4,500 for electric and up to £2,500 for hybrid.

In addition to the introduction of diesel scrappage scheme, German car manufactures also announced free software upgrades to customers to improve the emissions they produce.
