An image of the long-awaited Xiaomi Mi 5 has emerged online, which gives a glimpse of what the smartphone may look like.
Xiaomi launched the Mi 4 in July 2014, which made way to the shelves in August 2014. Mobile phone enthusiasts have been waiting for Xiaomi to launch Mi 5 – the successor of the Mi 4 – for many months but the company has not launched the device.
Market experts believed that Xiaomi will unveil the Mi 5 at its event on Nov. 24 but many smartphone lovers were left disappointed as the Chinese handset maker launched the Redmi Note 3 and the Xiaomi Mi Pad 2 instead.
Rumors suggest that the launch of Xiaomi Mi 5 has been delayed as the company is waiting for the official launch of Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor, which is due in January 2016.
While Xiaomi remains mum on the launch of the Mi 5, GizmoChina was able to find an image of a mysterious Xiaomi device on the company’s official Weibo page. Xiaomi has not named the device but it is highly likely that it is the upcoming Mi 5.
The device that appears on the leaked image seems to have borrowed some design aspects from the Xiaomi Mi Note. However, the smartphone in question has a sleeker design and thinner bezels in comparison to the Mi Note.
The leaked image of the Mi 5 does not any specs detail of the device but previous rumors claim that the mobile phone will sport a 5.2-inch screen with a display resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels.
The speculated Xiaomi handset is expected to feature Synaptics ClearForce technology, which is similar to Apple’s ForceTouch technology that has been used in the new iPhone 6s and the iPhone 6s Plus.
Along with a powerful Snapdragon 820 processor, the Xiaomi phone is also said to have 4GB of RAM for boosting performance. The Mi 5 is also estimated to have 64GB of internal storage. The Mi 4 did not include a microSD card slot for expanding the memory. Xiaomi may continue to same for the successor of the Mi 4.
Google has launched Android 6.0 Marshmallow operating system (OS). Android smartphone users are keen to experience the latest OS and customers will hope that the Mi 5 comes pre-installed with the latest Android OS.
Previous rumors have claimed that Xiaomi is planning to launch the Mi 5 in January or February 2016 but Xiaomi has kept its lips tight about the Mi 5. Customers will have to wait another few months before Xiaomi officially takes the curtains off from the Mi 5, probably in early 2016.[“source-techtimes”]
