What is a teacher? A teacher is someone who teaches or in other words, helps you to learn new things. Just think about how important teachers are. They pass on values such as hard work, respect, and knowledge.
Teachers are not only important to us when we are kids, but they are also important to the parents of children as well. A good teacher can help instill discipline in unruly children, make children more confident and of course make them smarter. Teachers deal with kids for hours up to 5 days a week. Sometimes this is more than some busy parents spend with their children.
What this means is that teachers exert a great deal of influence on our children and teens. Most teachers are a positive example of how a good and knowledgeable citizen should behave. We owe our teachers thanks for setting an example and dealing with both the good and bad sides of dozens if not hundreds of children each day.
The transfer of knowledge is important for our society to continue functioning and improving. Just think about how our world would be if there were no teachers or instructors to transmit past knowledge to future adults and workers. Society would quickly stagnate, and innovation would drop. Knowledge is the key to human progress and teachers play a critical role in the dissemination of knowledge.
Many teachers deserve our thanks and gratitude. In some cases, the job does not pay well, and the workload is very high. However, these people continue teaching and working with children, even with difficult children. They do it out of love and because they want to make a difference in children’s lives.
Recent events across the United States have also shown the level of dedication teachers have to their students. During the mass shootings in Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut and Marjorie Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida, teachers sacrificed their own lives to protect their students. This proves that teachers care about their students’ lives and were willing to risk theirs on behalf of their students. Teachers like these deserve our utmost respect and admiration and should never be forgotten for their sacrifice.
