Back in spring, Instagram brought its filter driven social network to Windows 10 Mobile. Now, it’s doing the same for tablets and PCs running on Windows 10.
As a small business owner, you no longer need to rely on Android and iOS apps to manage your Instagram account. You can do all that right from your Windows 10 tablet or PC.
Instagram for Windows
The app offers native Windows 10 features such as notifications and Live Tiles. It also, for the most part, offers Windows 10 mobile app functions such as explore, search and Instagram Direct messaging.
The biggest feature yet, which you can simply access by going to Instagram.com, is the ability not only to view Stories but post and edit photos too.
There is, however, a caveat with the Windows 10 version of Instagram. Editing and posting of photos is only available on tablets and PCs with rear cameras and touchscreens. This is a bizarre restriction, but devices like Microsoft’s Surface Book and Surface Pro work fine for uploading.
The recent update, one that is going to benefit many businesses that use Instagram to advertise their products and services, is just one of the latest benefits to emerge from a series of partnerships between Microsoft and Facebook. Having an Instagram app that’s compatible with Windows 10, which is used by many small businesses, means you can now easily maintain yet another part of your social media without requiring a different device and a different operating system to do so.
The new Instagram for Windows app is now available for download in the Windows App Store.
