Near the entrance of the Upper West Side apartment of Sierra Boggess, there’s the poster of “The Little Mermaid” that features Ms. Boggess with the title role in her Broadway debut in 2008. A poster is also displayed along the way for last season’s “It Shoulda Been You.”
Since arriving in 2004 from Denver, Sierra has lived in many places. First, she lived on West 49th Street, then on West 50th, then West 56th, and then West 70th.
Earlier this year, she chose a large one-bedroom co-op, partly to give her two cats more space to roam.
When she moved to the city, Summer, her older sister, gave her a housewarming gift of a pink tool kit.
The New York Times news said that Sierra Boggess has a collection of miniatures, such as elephants, ladybugs, cows and tiny family photos in picture frames. She also has a pair of jewelry storage boxes bought from Bed Bath & Beyond and affixed them to a wall with the aid of her pink drill.
After she moved to New York, Sierra was featured in a musical directed by David Zippel. Mr. Zippel threw a party for the cast at his penthouse on Central Park West. She recalled, “Someday, I’m going to have this apartment. I don’t know how I’ll ever afford it, but I feel I’m getting closer because now I live only a block from the park.”
But Mr. Zippel moved out from the apartment. “I told him, ‘I can’t believe you sold that place,'” she said with a laugh. “I was going to buy it from you.”
The phenomenal success of Sierra Boggess was not at all difficult to believe. Ms. Boggess had previously played Christine Daae in Las Vegas from 2006 to 2007, and again from 2010 to 2011 in London, as reported by the Broadway Style Guide news.
“Christine was my first lead role professionally, and it changed my life,” Boggess says. “In a way it feels spiritual to me.”
Currently, Boggess is preparing for a role in the upcoming Broadway production of “It Shoulda Been You.”
