Pure talent can win over even the hardest-to-please judges. And in the social media age we live in, the keyboard warriors are the judges who decide whether one has what it takes to win over the internet.
TikTok is full of all sorts of content, some are funny, topical and others are so cringey that you wish the poster hadn’t bothered posting the clip at all. Sometimes, it can also throw up some gems in the mix.
It is how a village boy from Jharkhand amassed a following of 1.5 million people on TikTok. Sanatan Kumar Mahato has no professional training in dance, yet he manages to rake in millions of views on his dance videos on old Bollywood numbers.
Most videos feature him and his sister in a simple everyday clothes dancing in sync to Bollywood tracks usually shot near their home. Their talent is of professional level. Having joined TikTok in February last year, he quickly got a million followers in a matter of a year.
His fluid movements have also attracted the attention of celebrities who have praised his dance skills. Just recently, TV actor Mini Mathur tweeted a video of his dancing to Maine Dil Ka Hukam Sun Liya from the 1960 classic Barsaat Ki Raat. “Yes! This is what I needed to see this morning!! So much love to everyone who is trying to stay positive through 2020,” wrote Mini next to the video.
Other users soon chimed in with one saying, “Muze bahot bha gaya, bahoot khubsurat tha. Muze yeah bhai bhen ko milena hai. Gift dena hai. Koi mila seketa hai to mila do. Address do lock down ke baad milenge.” Check them out on TikTok dancersanatan.
