Facebook today announced a series of partnerships with auto dealership listing sites to make it easier to buy and sell vehicles on its Marketplace platform. Since Marketplace’s launch in October 2016, Facebook has seen a huge upswell in car listings, with the platform already featuring a dedicated vehicles category that lets you search by make, year, milage, and price.
Now, thanks to the new partnerships, Facebook Marketplace has a far more robust — and likely more trustworthy — section dedicated to vehicle buying and selling that includes full dealerships inventories and direct dealer contact support.
In addition to displaying used car values pulled from Kelley Blue Book, Facebook Marketplace will now contain inventory listings from Edmunds, Cars.com, Auction123, CDK Global and SocialDealer. It will also be adding more specific search fields, including transmission and vehicle type. For those who want to communicate directly with dealerships, Facebook is supporting text chat through Messenger. The new inventory will populate and new features will start rolling out over the course of the next few weeks, the company says.
