Health minister Kali Charan Saraf on Monday flagged off seven mobile dental vans at a state-level health promotion programme. He said that these dental mobile vans will be placed in seven divisional headquarters — Ajmer, Bharatpur, Bikaner, Jaipur, Jodhpur, Kota and Udaipur.
In the last three years, under the Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK), more than 1.43 lakh children were found to have dental problems, which was 20% of the total children suffering from various ailments.
These children were referred to the district hospitals, as in many primary and community health centres, there are no dentists and even if a dentist is present often there are no chairs and other equipment. The mobile vans were planned keeping in mind these problems. Dental problems require frequent follow-up and it is difficult for these children to go to district hospitals from their villages.
Saraf said that these mobile dental vans will go to various areas and treat children with dental problems.
GVK Telangana will maintain mobile dental vans at Bharatpur, Bikaner and Udaipur divisions, while Maharaja Dental College will maintain the van at Jaipur division, Vyas Dental College at Jodhpur division and Santokba Durlabji hospital will maintain the vans at Ajmer and Kota divisions.
The health minister also launched e-nirman software and released its logo. The software will help monitor construction works done under national health mission (NHM), including its implementation, progress and even payment to the contractors made in a transparent manner. He said this software will prove helpful for the civil engineering wing of NHM.
Saraf also felicitated 33 mothers, three from each of 11 milk banks – the first donor, mothers who had donated milk for the maximum number of times and mothers who had donated maximum milk.
He said seven new milk banks will be started soon. People who have done commendable work in Bhamashah Swasthya Bima Yojana (BSBY) were also felicitated at the function. Saraf said that BSBY was started in the state on December 13, 2015, in which one crore families under National Food Security Act and Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana were provided health insurance cover for select diseases — ₹30,000 for general diseases and up to ₹3 lakh for serious diseases.
Private doctors extending their services to the Pradhan Mantri Surakshit Matratva Abhiya were also felicitated at the event.
