Last week brought news of a new band featuring all the members of No Doubt not namedGwen Stefani. As Stefani gears up to release a new solo album, guitarist Tom Dumont, bassist Tony Kanal, and drummer Adrian Young have teamed up with AFI frontman Davey Havok. They’ve already recorded an album, hired Green Day manager Pat Magnarella to rep them, and are currently shopping for a record label.
All of this was news to Stefani, however. As she revealed on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, she learned of her bandmates’ plans the same way you and I did — via the Internet.
Stefani referred to the collaboration as a “side project … they wanna be in a punk band.” However when asked by Kimmel what would happen if she wanted back in with No Doubt, she responded, “I’ll have to text Tony and ask him that, I don’t know.”
Needless to say it looks like we’re a long ways away from a follow-up to Push and Shove, which is not necessarily a bad thing.
